stocks slightly higher across europe, showing growth, and that s an important thing in the eurozone because we ve been talking recessions in many of these countries. little movement in premarket trading in the u.s. stock market so far this morning. stocks gained a little bit on thursday. but you know what? trading has been very light, and a lot of folks are saying, you know, the focus has been on this winter storm blanketing the east coast. you ve had washington shut down, you know, shut down the testimony from the new fed chief. so, really not a lot going on. stocks, surprisingly little reaction yesterday to a worse-than-expected report on retail sales for january. i expect trading to be pretty quiet here again this morning. there s been breaking news overnight. before i get to the breaking news, i do want to tell you, we ll talk about this a little later in the show, but the best story today. valentine s day, big problems with valentine s day because the flowers aren t able to get

unit, spinning off its television business and slashing 5,000 jobs. sony also warning of a loss of $1 billion this year. this comes as a big surprise. it is much more than people had thought in previous estimates. sony s turn-around plan just not working, it seems. the company hoping these moves will help. coke in a k-cup. plans are in the works. think about that. coca-cola teaming up with green mountain coffee to produce coke products in those little, single-serve, plastic pods. keurig, the maker of the k-cup, expects to release a cold system within a year to dispense carbonated drinks, waters, juice and sports drinks. coke s in it for the long haul, paying $1.2 billion for a 10% stake in green mountain. it s a ten-year partnership. coke thinks it s a good deal. so do investors, by the way. green mountain s stock exploding, up 43% in premarket

on wednesday. facebook is getting long in the tooth. it recorded record results, even better than what wall street had expected. the news came after the closing bell on wall street yesterday, and facebook s stock is soaring in premarket trading. it is up 12%. facebook says it now has 1.2 billion users. that s a big number. but the pace at which it s adding users isn t keeping up with past quarters. watch that. a lot of questions about how the age of their users, too, they want that really young, young user, and there s not as much good growth there. all right, hottest money story this morning, no question. google selling its motorola mobility smartphone opportunito lenovo. it s been a money loser for google, which it bought just about a year and a half ago, and it s a muscle move for lenovo. lenovo already the world s largest pc-maker. with this purchase, it says it will now challenge apple and samsung in the smartphone market.
