After analyzing various alternatives, including a smaller project or different location, the environmental impact report deemed Alternative 2, a smaller version of the initially proposed 449,248-square-foot facility, as the “environmentally superior alternative.”
“Alternative 2 would include the same components as the proposed project and would be constructed on the same project site, on the northeastern portion of the subject property,” the report said.
The proposed site for the Arctic processing and cooling facility sits off East Betteravia Road, east of Rosemary Road. While the proposed site now is filled with weeds, nearby land is used for farming crops and two cooling facilities sit nearby. (Courtesy photo)
