The Bureau of Land Management seeks public comment on Desatoya Herd Management Area Preliminary Environmental Assessment CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Stillwater Field Office is seeking public comments on a Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) for the Desatoya Herd Management Area (HMA) Wild Horse Gather. Public comments will be accepted through January 9, 2021. “The BLM encourages the public to review the provided documents and submit comments for this important project,” said Ken Collum, Stillwater Field Manager. The project would occur in the Desatoya Mountains, located in Churchill and Lander Counties, approximately 90 miles east of Fallon, Nevada. The proposed action is to gather and remove excess wild horses from within and outside the Desatoya HMA in order to achieve the established Appropriate Management Level (AML) of 127-180 wild horses and implement a range of fertility controls to maintain the population within AML over
