Overturning a National Labor Relations Board ruling, a federal appeals court says janitors in San Francisco were illegally fired for picketing an office building.
The janitors worked at 55 Hawthorne St., between Howard and Folsom Streets. Upset with their wages and working conditions, and with what they described as sexually coercive comments by a manager, they carried picket signs outside the building for two days in October and November 2014 that called their employer unfair and demanded a living wage and “no more sexual harassment.”
