footage of this trial is not going to help donald trump as much as it hurts him. he is going to stream every bit of live footage from that trial and use it to his own advantage in his campaign. i do not think that the idea that the american public and can i watch it live is going to mean that the american public will not be like the trump campaign. clever uses of editing, and sort of a spin on whatever it is that happens. people are going to go to various news outlets, but they re also going to go to people like steve bannon s radio show. they are going to go to people they are going to go to bloggers, tiktok, social media to get an interpretation of what happens. they are not going to sit and watch every second of the. trial. even if they do, they will go to their secondary sources for interpretation. so, well i have my own reasons for thinking that it will be crazy great to have live footage of the trial, i do not believe that simply having that live footage is going to stop misi
don t trump tonight is talking a little bit about the law, he is distorting, it but byron donald and other republicans or on the streets today with that same distortion of the law. which suggests that they now know that they need a little bit more than just the weaponization. they need to give a false narrative around the law to back up what they are. saying that can sustain them all the way throughout the trial. and i think you will see that see how dangerous is that amy who are listening to these weaponization committees, how these weaponization narratives. how much is that hurt americans trust in our system? i think it is very damaging. and i m very concerned about it. i ve spent my life trying to defend this country, and our democracy. and i think what these republican leaders so-called leaders are doing, they are actually hurting our country. when you look at what holding up the department of justice
you would not see anyone else facing these charges with that kind of special treatment. stephanie ruhle, i m not sure there was a case for why he was released pre trial. if the notion is that he could be a danger to himself, the community, or the country, this is somebody who is has mishandled classified information. we do not know what other documents he has or whether he misused the information. there is a strong case, if it was anybody but donald trump that he will be behind bars tonight. and if there is two systems of justice, who is in charge of the department of justice for for years? at least at arms length from the administration? it was donald trump. he could have charged hillary clinton, he could ve gone after hunter biden, he could ve done these things. there is no there there on this weaponization to tear argument. but here s why it s so dangerous. i appreciate amy s perspective on this. stephanie, if the stolen election was the big lie, it was the predicate for january s
she has enormous power in this case, stephanie. she is the manager of the case and she gets wide discretion to do a lot of things. first and foremost she gets to decide the scheduling of this case. so, i imagine donald trump will want to delay, delay this case as long as possible. as harry said, that will likely be his strategy if he had been representing trump. and judge cannon has the ability to do that. she can find lots of reasons for delay. defense council probably needs security clearances, that will take some time. working through the classified information, crafting a protective order for how they re going to deal with that material at trial. that can take a long time. the other great power that she has, of course, is granting motions. if motions are filed for selective prosecution. for suppression of evidence, both the fruits of the search and the evan corcoran attorney-client testimony. she has the ability to suppress all of that evidence. so, she has a lot of power
