state government’s fresh decision to give benefits under the economically weaker section (EWS) reservation category to
Marathas has caused a rift in the community. Bharatiya Janata Party (
BJP) Member of
Parliament (MP) Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje and the Sambhaji Brigade have opposed this decision, while Maratha
community leader Pravin Gaikwad has welcomed it, and stated that those who did not get admissions in the past due to the lack of this reservation should avail of this benefit now.
