For days Jessie Merlyn and her husband Christy Paul, residents of
HBR Layout, were frantic with worry over getting their aunt Pramila Pauline Rani the care she needed after she contracted covid. But when Rani collapsed and died at a
covid care centre (
CCC) on MG Road, the bereaved couple had to go through another long ordeal to get their aunt a proper burial.
In the wee hours of Sunday, when Rani’s oxygen level dropped sharply, the couple who had till then knocked on all the hospitals’ doors, took her to the CCC as they said there was a bed there. However, when they reached there, the family was told there was no bed. “We checked her SpO2 levels with our pulse oximeter and found that the saturations had dropped from 84 to 50 around 6.45 am. She said she needed to use the restroom at the CCC and she went inside and then collapsed,” Jessie
