MYSURU: A drunken brawl between friends ended with the murder of two and another getting seriously injured in Mysuru late on Sunday.
Police have concluded that an argument broke out between a bunch of friends over a property and then one group launched murderous attack and killed Kishan and Kiran, both in their late twenties.
Madhu, an auto driver escaped with injuries. He is stable and being treated in a hospital.
Deputy commissioner of police (Law and Order) AN Prakash Gowda, an IPS officer, said the accused group attacked two youths with a knife and sickle near a new layout close to National Highway 766.

New Year-Eve celebration in Mysuru will not be a glitzy affair this year. Like all other celebrations and religious events in a COVID-hit age, welcoming the New Year will also be a low-key affair as the Mysuru City Police have asked all hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs to shut shop by 11.30 pm on the New Year-Eve (Dec. 31).
In pre-COVID times, the closing hour for New Year parties in Mysuru would be usually extended till 1 am. But this year, celebrations will be ending at 11.30 pm.
This instruction was passed on by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda while addressing a meeting of city hoteliers and owners of bars and restaurants at the City Police Commissioner’s Office in Nazarbad yesterday.

Mysuru: Mysuru city will miss the usual Christmas and New Year Eve celebrations in clubs, pubs and restaurants among other places with the State Government banning special DJ dance and parties till Jan. 2, 2021.
However, there will be no restrictions on Xmas prayers tonight. All parties at clubs, pubs and restaurants must end at 11 pm from today and the same guidelines will be in force till the next day after New Year.
As with most festivals this year, Christmas too will be a low-key affair. “Midnight Christmas mass on 24th night shall be permitted as per guidelines issued on Dec. 17. Celebration of Christmas and New Year festivities shall be as per the guidelines,” the Government order stated.
