(Polk County, Iowa) A Des Moines man is in custody, facing a murder charge in Kansas.
According to the District Attorney for Kansas Tenth Judicial District, Michael Balance of Des Moines is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of John Hoffman. Investigators say Hoffman was found dead in a Prairie Village, Kansas apartment on Saturday.
Des Moines Police say they received a photo of Balance from the Prairie Village Police on Sunday afternoon. A Des Moines Police officer recognized him, and police were able to locate Balance and take him into custody.
Authorities in Kansas are trying to extradite Balance to face the murder charge in that state.
