REGINA Saskatchewan’s school-based COVID-19 vaccination program will begin in Regina on Monday. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said it has been working closely with the Regina Public and Catholic; and Prairie Valley School Divisions to develop a schedule for in-school vaccinations. “They have confirmed their schedule, they are just waiting for their information packages and then we’ll be communicating directly with the students and families in their schools,” Laveena Tratch, the SHA’s Vaccine Section Chief for Regina, said in an interview with CTV Morning Live Regina Children aged 12 and older are currently eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine.
REGINA In-person learning at Regina schools is set to resume in less than two weeks, but with more than 900 active COVID-19 cases in the region, there are growing calls to vaccinate school staff before they return to class. The Regina Public, Catholic and Prairie Valley School Divisions have sent letters to the provincial government calling for school staff to be vaccinated before going back to the classroom on April 26. The vaccinations would give them an opportunity to feel safer an be there for our students, Vicky Bonnell, board chair for the Regina Catholic School Division, said. Students in the three divisions have been learning from home since the last week of March due to the increased spread of variants of concerns in the area.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and local medical health officers are strongly recommending that the three Regina school divisions and Prairie Valley School Divisions continue with remote learning for two weeks after the Easter break through to and including April 23.
Dr. Shahab has also indicated his support for this recommendation.
Prairie Valley School Division is following the recommendation and will continue with remote learning for all students from April 12 to April 23.
The division will continue to monitor the situation and consult with the SHA, but the plan at this point is to have students return to school on April 26.
