It was a year that started with so much promise and ended in such disappointment.
Luke Odom was on well his way to becoming Edwardsville’s second state champion in wrestling in three years and the Father McGivney girls basketball team was making history with each win it picked up at a frantic pace.
Thankfully, the area was able to witness both those paths come to an end with Odom winning his state title in the 160-pound bracket of the Class 3A state meet and the FMCHS girls claiming first-ever Prairie State Conference, regional and sectional championships en route to the best single-season in program history.
