For the second day in running, eight new cases of Omicron variant have been detected across Maharashtra, of which four cases are from Mumbai while the other three are from Satara and one is from Pune Municipal Corporation area, as per findings of the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
The Omicron menace seems to march on with impunity with 111 positive cases of the super variant having been detected across 11 states and union territories thus far.
Despite an intensified vaccination drive, the percentage of beneficiaries in 22 districts is below the state average of 47.74 per cent, according to the statistics provided by Maharashtra health department.
Two more people have tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Mumbai, taking the tally in Maharashtra to 10, the State Public Health Department said in a press note on Monday evening.
