COLOMBO (News 1st); The Labour Department says that nearly 15,000 people in the private sector have lost their jobs as a result of the second wave of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Commissioner-General of Labour Prabhath Chandrakeerthi stated that this information was revealed by the complaints received by the department and the complaints submitted to the official website of the department.
This does take into consideration those who lost their jobs in the tourism sector.
The Commissioner-General of Labour said that a comprehensive program is being implemented to provide relief to those affected.
