it s both. partly a pr move for these companies to come out right after that press conference yesterday and announce these moves. and it does put feathers in the cap of this president and republicans when people who work for those companies step back and say oh, i m going to be making more money. that s the idea of what republicans are trying to do and the way they re going to try to sell this. but, you know, as katelyn alluded to, the president s approval rating being sub-40s for the last month or two is really amazing which how well the economy is doing. it s amazing a tax cut package could be so unpopular in terms of the polls it making tax cuts unpopular is hard to do. i think both have much to do with how the president is viewed. the fatigue the general public has with the constant chaos of this presidency. day in, day out. the republicans were able to get donald trump after the failure on health care to sort of behave better, to be a little more strategic and deliberate in
advisers there with kellyanne conway on tv really going after mueller. i have to wonder how that plays out with the president and his legal team. if the president feels like he s under fire here, does he make changes on his legal team and take a different tact. does he change course? does he understand? michael flynn is cooperating. papadopoulos cuts a plea deal. there may be more superceseding indictments there. they re looking to make their public case for them and is he s telling people who might be interested in that job, it s going well into next year. this isn t going anywhere. it s not. it s a pr move as the investigation is ramping up. even if this document has no legal weight, and it might not, there is a campaign by the white house and the president s allies and the conservative media to discredit this campaign, and it s not working overall with the public. by a wide margin, americans
publicly trying to tame the tensions? you and i shared this year. it was incredibly rich that the russian leadership was the one saying this was a pr move by the united states that was only going to amp up tensions. and actually the russian foreign minister was saying this is a move by the tous move further into southeast asia with its missile defense system and japan said we stand with the united states. so i think what you see is russia using this as a wedge to express its concerns about other united states moves within the region and thus far south korea and japan have very much stood alongside the united states and under this umbrella that if they feel they stand under that the united states rarely providing security in the event of north korea aggression. we ll see if this move entices others. thank you so much.
