campaign finance violations has been committed. katie, tell me why would it matter if barr would say something, would it be more of a political pr move to say, hey, he s okay? because it has no bearing on what is happening on the hill. barr won t touch this one. when we look at the mueller investigation, this had nothing to do with bill barr. he may have done hissed auditio memo, but he won t touch this because his name was mentioned in that july 25th call repeatedly. he said i have not spoken about this. and there is criminality on all of this and that is why the doj will distance themselves. and this is just a political battle. and part of the reason why you don t see barr getting involved is you can t stop this train. barr cannot stop this train.
all 400 plus pages of very unflattering information about the president into the public, trump, of course, did not want that to happen. so during the course of negotiations, one of the things that barr agreed to do was to hold a press conference saying at the end of the day, at the end of this investigation, there is no reason to prosecute president trump. now, he did not say the same thing with the ukraine call. he declined to hold the pressor. he didn t think it would probably be the right thing to do and instead put out a very narrow statement saying we do not think the single katy fang, why would it matter if barr were to come out and say something? would it be more of a political pr move to say, hey, he s okay? because it has no bearing necessarily on what what s happening across the way on the hill. barr s not going to touch this one. okay. so when we look at the mueller investigation, this has nothing to do with bill barr. i mean, he may have done his audition memo that
and that, no doubt, is something we re going to hear from him tonight at his rally. let s lucisten to this conversation. preet bharara has a podcast. he had george conway on. the husband of kellyanne conway, a senior adviser to the president. let s listen to a bit of that conversation. let s go back to that. you had strong feelings about that. it s nine pages. it s just garbage. it s one of the worst letters i ve seen from the white house counsel s office. this was trash. this was trash. okay. so is that just two people with who don t like the president talking or do you agree with their legal argument that there was no there, there in the white house letter pushing back on democrats? there was a teeny bit of there, there in the footnotes, to make the point that they actually cited a case. but primarily, it was a pr move talking points move and, really, i thought the letter started out with a roar, very blustery and
administration taking money from the disaster relief as a storm barrels towards puerto rico? it s not a slush fund for policies that they can t get congress to pay for. this literally the administration taking money from actual crisis programs to fund a crisis of its own making, which is its remain in mexico policy and the extra burden that s created needlessly. phil, the rush to finish this border wall, it is a crisis of the president s own making. he promises to deliver this wall over and over throughout the campaign. president trump has promised, again, as you pointed out, 500 miles, 60 miles or so is completed so far. that s replacement fencing. is this i mean, how much of this is actually about just the pr of it and how much of this is about actually getting the wall built? well, i think it s a little bit of both, craig. certainly it s a pr move. that s why the president wants
are selling them. it s not about everyone needs to stop selling guns, but we need to have checks and balances on it and part of that is we need background checks. that s where i begin and end. some people, you know, put some pressure on dick s sporting goods, a while back and there are some democrats who are saying, walmart needs to make some changes. is this somebody that will appeal to voters? i think walmart, the question for walmart is, is it going to get them more or less going to make this change. if there s enough public pressure that says, maybe you shouldn t sell certain kinds of guns, maybe you shouldn t sell guns at all, that s going to bring more people into their shops, then maybe it s a pr move and if it s not, then it s hard to imagine walmart saying to its investors or stockholders, we re
