Thursday, February 18, 2021 Another Carroll County resident has died from complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the number of local deaths to 41. The additional death — the first in the past seven days — was reported Tuesday morning by the Arkansas Department of Health, in addition to 22 new cases of the novel coronavirus, a significant decrease from the week before, as the number of COVID-19 cases in Carroll County continues to show signs of a downward trend. Tuesday’s case numbers reflected an 80 percent decrease in new cases per week since Feb. 2. According to the ADH, the total number of reported cases in Carroll County as of Tuesday was 2,696, including 2,292 lab-confirmed cases, 2,596 reported “recoveries,” and 59 active cases.

Local News: County s case numbers showing downward trend; no new deaths (2/9/21)

Tuesday, February 9, 2021 After last week’s spike, the number of COVID-19 cases in Carroll County has begun to show signs of another downward trend. According to numbers released Monday morning by the Arkansas Department of Health, Carroll County reported 86 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past week, after reporting 101 during the previous seven-day period, a spike that followed reports of 73 new cases during the week ending Jan. 25. According to the ADH, the total number of reported cases in Carroll County as of Monday was 2,666, including 2,265 lab-confirmed cases, 2,487 reported “recoveries,” and 140 active cases. One additional death was reported on Tuesday after seven days of no new deaths, bringing the death toll to 40.

Local News: Eureka Springs schools vaccinate 100 employees (2/2/21)

Tuesday, February 2, 2021 Eureka Springs School District staff members received their first round of COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday, Jan. 27, with the help of Poynor Drug and Economy Drug. The Eureka Springs School District held a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Wednesday, Jan. 27, offering the vaccine to staff from the Academy of Excellence and Clear Spring School. Eureka Springs school nurse Kevin Vaverka said around 100 employees were given the Moderna vaccine at the clinic. According to Eureka Springs superintendent Bryan Pruitt, 70 of those employees work for the Eureka Springs School District. Pruitt said that s 60 percent of the employees in the district. The remaining 30 employees work at Clear Spring School and the Academy of Excellence, Pruitt said.
