Gun Violence in Buffalo Has Taken 20 Lives So Far This Year There has been a significant increase in gun-related crime in urban centers all across the country this year and Buffalo is proving to be no exception to this. According to a report by WKBW-TV, we re already seen more gun-related homicides in 2021 than in 2020. This large increase in violence is causing a lot of stress throughout the city. Investigative Reports from Channel 7 were able to obtain a series of reports from the Buffalo Police Department that details how bad things have been in the first 3 months of the year. There have been at least 72 people that have suffered gunshot wounds in the city, with 20 of those people died as a result of their injuries. That represents a tremendous increase from last year when only 36 people were shot during the whole year.

Buffalo Police Investigating Double Shooting on Farmer Street Buffalo Police Detectives are investigating a double shooting that happened near the corner of Niagara Street and Farmer Street in Buffalo s Riverside section. According to a report by reporting by WIVB, one man was killed and another was wounded in the shooting that happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The two men were in a vehicle when shots rang out killing a 33-year-old man. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals. The second victim, a 26-year-old man was grazed in the shooting. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.

Buffalo Man Arrested in Orchard Park on Multiple Charges Orchard Park Police Officers arrested a man for multiple charges during a traffic stop last Thursday, February 11th. According to reporting by WIVB, authorities pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Southwestern Boulevard. The driver of the car, Jaylen Hawkins of Buffalo, only had a learner s permit and is alleged to have been driving 23 miles per hour over the area s speed limit. During the arrest, officers found a loaded handgun in the pants pocket of the 20-year-old man. Officials also found an undisclosed amount of marijuana in the vehicle after he was taken into custody. While he was being detained, officials allege that Hawkins admitted the weapon was his and he did not have a permit for it.
