A mixed trend was seen on the sectoral front, with capital goods, telecom, healthcare, metal, power ending in the green, while auto, bank, FMCG, IT, oil & gas, and realty were down 0.3-1 percent.
Indian shares fell sharply on Wednesday, as higher bond yields and a surge in oil prices following hawkish Fed comments and due to heightened tensions in the Middle East stoked concerns that global interest rates will likely stay higher for longer.
According to provisional data from the exchanges, FIIs bought Rs 14,162 crore and sold Rs 20,004 crore. Meanwhile, DIIs picked up Rs 12,954 crore in shares and dropped Rs 7,720 crore worth of equity in the session.
