The Sarnia woman kept a diary when she was 11 but a friend found it and told others her secrets.

“Which, you can imagine, for a 11-year-old girl, is not so great,” she said.
Styndonck said that’s when she began to write in a more cryptic style and using imagery and the “painting of a visual picture of hurts or happiness” without being literal.
“And, I just kind of kept with it,” she said. “It’s something that always made me feel better, to get it out of my head and onto the page.”
