A Powell Butte middle school student was arrested after allegedly leaving threatening voicemails at his school, prompting school officials to cancel classes Wednesday. According to the Crook County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the Powell Butte Charter School to the report of a significant threat to the school. Multiple messages had been left on the schools phone system threatening staff and students. Deputies and school district staff searched the building and the Powell Butte Church next door but nothing suspicious was found. Deputies stayed at the school for the remainder of the day while the source of the threat was investigated. Out of precaution, the Crook County School District elected to cancel class and events at the church were also cancelled.
