Avian influenza confirmed in 9 states for poultry birds, says Centre

The central government on Saturday informed that avian influenza or bird flu has been confirmed in nine states for poultry birds and in 12 states for crow, migratory and wild birds till January 23. Till January 23, 2021 outbreaks of Avian Influenza (bird flu) have been confirmed in 9 States (Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab) for poultry birds and in 12 states (Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab) for Crow/Migratory/ Wild birds, informed the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying. The ministry said the samples of crow and pigeon submitted from Rudraprayag, Lansdowne Forest Range and Paudi Forest Range of Uttarakhand, pigeon samples from Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan, crow and peacock samples from Uttar Pradesh s Fatehpur have been found negative for avian influenza.

Bird flu in poultry confirmed in few more places in Maha, MP, Chhattisgarh

The Centre on Thursday said bird flu cases have been confirmed in poultry birds in a few more districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. So far, avian influenza in poultry has been confirmed in six states Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab. In a statement, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said bird flu has been confirmed in poultry samples from Thane (Kalyan), Yavatmal (Dhunki, Pusad), Wardha (Chakni, Hingaghat), Gondia (Nimba, Goregaon), Ahmednagar (BhumirChavan) and Hingoli (Pimpri Khurd) districts of Maharashtra. The disease has also been confirmed in poultry birds in Raisen (Gairatganj) district of Madhya Pradesh as well as Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

Sikkim bans entry of poultry products from other states for 1 month

The Sikkim government on Thursday banned the import of all poultry products from other states for a month in the wake of the outbreak of avian influenza in various places across the country. A notification on the ban was issued by the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department Secretary, S D Subba. In the wake of report of avian influenza outbreak in several states and to prevent possible ingress of avian influenza disease in the state, the Government of Sikkim hereby imposes ban on entry of poultry and poultry products from outside the state with immediate effect for a period of one month from the date of issue of notification, the notification said.
