Every Farmall and IH tractor on his farm has a job, Chapin said, and the smaller 100 is handy for backing wagons into buildings. When Rudolph “Boots” Chapin was 7 years old, his family moved to a farm in Luzerne County with a Farmall F-12 tractor and a horse to plow the fields. That was in 1939, and while the horse is long gone, Chapin still resides on the farm. And, Farmall tractors, along with their International Harvester counterparts, continue to work the fields. Chapin, 88, recently retired from farming, letting his sons, Donald and Eugene, take over the grain and beef operation.
