Islanders have found yet another way to support potato farmers amid the U.S. trade ban: by offering to help place labels which are necessary to get potato bags shipped to Puerto Rico.
Wednesday marks a step forward for some P.E.I. potato farmers as they can start shipping to Puerto Rico once again. The news comes after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended the export of fresh P.E.I. potatoes to the U.S. and Puerto Rico in November following the discovery of potato wart in two Island fields.
