CQ man busted with small amount of marijuana

Premium Content Subscriber only A police search at a Blackwater address led to a Central Queensland man being charged with possessing dangerous drugs. Owen James Brunker pleaded guilty in Rockhampton magistrates Court on June 7 to the single charge. Police prosecutor sergeant Melissa Campbell said police executed a warrant at an address in Blackwater about 4.30pm on April 21. Sergeant Campbell said police detained Brunker and found a clip seal bag containing 0.7g of marijuana. She said Brunker told police the marijuana was for personal use and he intended to smoke it. Brunker was fined $700 with no criminal conviction recorded. marijuana

Alleged cop basher has charge upgraded, matters adjourned

Premium Content Subscriber only Toolooa man Aaron Andrew Channell, 23, was excused from appearing before Magistrate Bevan Manthey and police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd. The two counts of serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm were upgraded to grievous bodily harm. The Observer reported on March 3, the incident involving the alleged grievous bodily harm charge occurred last November. A QPS spokesman said the officer and his colleagues attended an address on Larsen St in West Gladstone at 11pm on November 28 in relation to a car driving in a dangerous manner. “It will be alleged he (Channell) then became aggressive and abusive and struggled with police,” the spokesman said.

Ex-cop found with child porn, MDMA escapes jail time

Andrew Edward Blair avoided having a conviction recorded against him on Thursday when he was sentenced to 12 months probation for possessing child exploitation material. Crown prosecutor William Slack told Maroochydore District Court police found 15 photos of girls on Blair s phone and two tablets when they raided his Mountain Creek property on May 6, 2018. Blair, 45, was also found with one tablet of MDMA and capsicum spray which was the property of the NSW police force. Judge Glen Cash said the photos were arranged in four folders across the devices.

Police raid Rocky home, find drugs in bedroom

A police raid in Rockhampton uncovered a small amount of marijuana in a young man’s bedroom. Jacob Marc Lee, 22, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 11 to one count of possessing dangerous drugs. Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said police executed a search warrant at an address in Rockhampton on December 7, 2020. Sgt Dalton said Lee was present for the search and police found a clip-seal bag containing 2.1g of marijuana in the end bedroom of the home. Defence lawyer Scheryn Aspinall-Clarke said her client started using marijuana in high school. Ms Aspinall-Clarke said her client saw his friends using it and got curious and started dabbling.

Man caught with bags of meth lucky to avoid supply charge

The court heard Weekes told police he had picked up the syringes at the golf course and put them in his bag. The 49-year-old Bowen man pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and failing to take reasonable care with a syringe or needle. Representing himself in court, Weekes said he had worked on farms all his life but now suffered from stomach problems including a double hernia and gallstones. Weekes admitted he used to inject drugs, but said he did not do so anymore because of his health issues. Magistrate James Morton told Weekes having uncapped needles was disgraceful and dirty .
