A DOMESTIC abuse survivor, anti knife crime charity and a cafe which gives refugees and asylum seekers a chance have all been nominated for National Diversity Award. Shana Begum, The Daniel Fox Foundation and Cafe Laziz are making St Helens proud after all three were nominated for National Diversity Awards in different categories, for the work they do helping others in the community. The National Diversity Awards celebrate role models, entrepreneurs and community organisations. Shana Begum is up for a Positive Role Model Award for her work raising awareness of domestic abuse and helping survivors after she fled to St Helens from a nearby town with her three children after leaving an honour based abusive relationship.
