In the past few weeks, Gedeon, Prosch, City Manager Sam Sutherland, and City Solicitor John Haas have been discussing what can be done to improve the department’s abilities. “As we all know, we have been battling a big fight with code enforcement,” said Sutherland during the City Managers session that evening. “I believe we finally got something to put to writing.”

Starting at 7:30 p.m. works ranging from Phantom of the Opera to John Williams’ “Summon the Heroes” and more will be the focus of the wind symphony’s “We’re Back – Live Music Returns to the VRCFA!” concert. On Friday, conductor Terry Thompson said it was nice to finally have a performance, although altered due to the pandemic, to look forward to after not performing since December 2019.

ODH not reporting COVID cases due to holiday Staff report SCIOTO Due to the Easter holiday, the Ohio Department of Health will not update the COVID-19 numbers for Sunday. Daily reporting will resume Monday and will reflect the totals from both April 4 and April 5. One year ago today, April 4, 2020, the Scioto County and Portsmouth City Health Department reported the first case of the COVID-19 virus in Scioto County. As of Saturday, April 3, more than 6,214 cases have been reported for Scioto County including 88 deaths. Health authorities urge the public to continue to practice safety measures such as social distancing, wearing a mask, wash your hands, avoid crowds and get vaccinated if not already.
