People & Business: Feb. 24
Legion Square spreads the love
Legion Square Market, an 82-year-old South Portland business, was honored Feb. 11 for safeguarding customers and employees during the pandemic. The city’s Economic Development Committee made the announcement as part of its 2020 Business Awards. Alan Cardinal of Scarborough, shown here, and his wife, Sylvia Most, have owned the store since 2012. In addition to supporting both the South Portland and Westbrook Food Cupboards, Cardinal personally delivers orders to customers who can’t get to the store. “In a crisis such as this one, we need to help each other,” he said. “People need to feel safe in our store and safe in our neighborhood.”
