The Navy has confirmed that no damage was caused to the hull of the MV Eurosun which collided with a reef near the small Ravana lighthouse off the coast of Hambantota.
Preliminary investigations into the ship were carried out by a Sri Lanka Navy ship with a Navy diving team. It was revealed that a part of the ship about 70 meters from the back was stuck in a rock.
However, the investigation has confirmed that the ship had left the reef with the impact of the currents.
The ship, which was transporting cement-laden raw material clinker from the port of Abu Dhabi to the port of Trincomalee under the Liberian flag, ran aground near the small Ravana lighthouse on the afternoon of 22 January.
