Some Lake Erie beachgoers were ticketed on the weekend, but not for strolling along the lake during the provincial COVID-19 shutdown.
Instead, bylaw officers in Bayham and Port Stanley handed out more than 50 tickets for illegal parking near beaches.

Despite Ontarioâs stay-at-home order barring gatherings of more than just your household, thousands of sun-seeking city dwellers flocked to Lake Erie communities.
âOur beaches are closed except for passive walking, which means youâre not supposed to have picnics or lay on the beach. Itâs meant for strolling and that is it,â said Elgin County Warden Dave Mennill.
