last friday, what it did show again, was the highest levels of inflation that you ve seen in some 40 years. as you point out. and it fairly is across the board, especially for things like food and fuel. but if you look at the kind of breakdown for certain food items that are driving it, a lot of it has to do with things like poultry because we know that supply chains are still an issue, avian or bird flu is still an issue that s affecting flocks for things like eggs and poultry product, but if you look at some of the places where prices are coming down, you re starting to see a little bit of moderation and outright price declines on a month over month basis in things like beef products or pork products, bacon, veal, that sort of thing. now, that doesn t help folks who have dietary restrictions, but what it does show is that there are pockets or places where people continue to spend aggressively on, but others they are overlooking and when supplies start to become glut-ish in those scen
ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city government's African swine fever (ASF) task force has placed two villages here under lockdown and commenced the depopulation of hogs due to the presence of ASF cases. Dr. Arnedo Agbayani, the assistant city veterinarian, said Tuesday Barangays Pasonanca and Mangusu were placed on lockdown after blood samples from the area turned positive for ASF infection. Agbayani said the results were confirmed by the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture in General Santos City. He said 78 hogs were culled in Sitio Canucutan in Barangay Pasonanca as they started Monday the depopulation of swine to prevent the spread of the disease in other parts of the city. The Office of the City Veterinarian (OCVet) on Saturday was still waiting for the result of the confirmatory tests of three blood samples that tested positive for African swine fever (ASF) at the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RADDL) of the Department of Agriculture in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The confirmatory tests were done at RADDL General Santos City as the Ipil laboratory has no equipment to determine if the viral infection is due to ASF, hog cholera, and porcine reproductive respiratory syndrome, which all have similar signs and symptoms. Dr. Arnedo Agbayani, assistant OCVet chief, does not foresee a shortage of meat products since a local shopping mall, which has its own ASF-free farm in K
