According to data from the distributor association, over fifty movies were released on the big screen last year. Unfortunately, a majority of these films failed to generate sufficient returns on investment. However, many hope the movie business will experience a turnaround in the new year.
Three Bangla films involving Indian director, Bratya Basu’s directorial, “Hubba”, Chayanika Chowdhury’s “Kagojer Bou” and Mehedi Hasan’s “Shesh Bazi” have been released to theatres all across the country today – after a stale three weeks of the new year.
Pori Moni is all set to captivate her fans as "Kagojer Bou" gears up for its theatrical release on January 19. Directed by Chayanika Chowdhury, the film features Pori Moni in the role of an affluent young woman ensnared in an intricate marriage with a less privileged man.
Mentioning the praises her new film has been receiving, Pori wrote, “Naturally, I was feeling very upset. However, since the morning, many journalist friends have been praising ‘Kagajer Bou’ through messages and phone calls! They congratulated me, DA Tayeb bhai, and Emon’s performances, and mentioned that the cinematography is really good. We did receive positive feedback!
A week of the ongoing year 2024 may have passed so far but there have not been any releases of Bangla movies at the theatres thereby pointing toward a stale beginning of the new year.
