good to be with you. ed: steve, you are still on west coast time, so i will start with you. you are the most alert one here. you and i were on your program a couple weeks ago, and you laid out what he wanted to hear, a progressive agenda from this president. did he meet the bar? i think very much in terms of the way they were handled, i thought it was strong and smart on the issues, pro-worker, pro-family, pro-america, but in a unifying way. i thought it was a populist speech, and i mean that as a compliment. as you said, positive populism, that is the theme of my show, and what i argue for, and i saw a lot of that tonight. i think the really important thing, the subject that has been discussed, immigration after tonight, much more optimistic that we will get that deal, and we will need to resort to the national emergency. i think the answer to that lies in something very specific, that we haven t quite seen, which the president said about immigration talking about the nature o
and in that speech last night that was all about division and you knowity. i want a president who has heart too. i don t want a president who evokes hate. i want a president who takes us higher, i want a president who causes us to be proud, all of us and not just a small slice. it s very disturbing that that heart quote hasn t been brought into the presidency, but if he s feeling wistful about him being president, there are a lot of us feeling wistful about him being president. a lot of the things he said in that speech were some of them a lot of them were things that democrats it was a populist speech. he s a whole new politician, he s not a conservative that snake poem where he equates refugees with snakes, he equates people who are fleeing their country with snakes.
