and then plateau before declining in the next century. the united nations says more than half the projected population increase to 2050 will be in just eight countries, half of them are in sub saharan africa. indeed, the total population of this entire region is set to almost double to 2 billion by 2050. remember, it includes some of the world s least developed countries many already experiencing food insecurity. india and china are the world s most populous countries. both are home to more than 1.4 billion people, but india will overtake china next year. china s population, along with scores of other countries, is set to fall sharply later this century. now that s because global fertility is declining dramatically. back in 1950, women gave birth, on average, to five children. that has since more than halved
in naples, at the major flood stage. but it s forecasted to double that or worse. so we are looking at water levels that we have not only not seen in modern history but that have never been recorded before. there s an enormous amount of water because this storm is so powerful. it has a long duration to grow in size. the other interesting thing scientifically about hurricane ian is that the eye wall has been expanded. the center is about 35 miles wide. normally a storm would be about 20 miles wide, or a strong hurricane, in the center. this enlargement is going to allow the hurricane to scoop up huge amounts of water out of the gulf. that s why it s going to be pushed along the shoreline for persistent duration because of the size of the storm. the longer it stays out in the open waters, the stronger the hurricane came get. a great point was made that so many new people have moved to florida in the last year and half because of covid. 500,000 population increase for

neighboring schools have dropped 20% and it could be to our benefit because we have fewer students we have to be teaching. in new york state and new york city they ve experienced a population increase. so i expect the problem is tougher for them. dana: how are you trying to recruit to find teachers? is well, it s really trying to grow your own. in this part of the state a lot of younger students when they go through school may not come back to the area. teacher may leave a neighboring district to come here and who will backfill that position? we re trying to schedule out retirements forare the next three years and know at the end of this year we ll lose two high school science teachers, the sciences are the harder to fill areas. we ll reach out to an area of teacher preparation program and see if they have student teachers coming through the pipeline. a great opportunity for them to get to know our school and how
