BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KAIT) - A man faces multiple charges, including manslaughter and DWI, following a motorcycle crash that left a woman dead.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash at 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, on Route CC at Butler County Road 660.
According to the crash report, 39-year-old Derek M. McCoin of Malden was eastbound when his 2005 Harley Davidson Heritage motorcycle ran off the roadway and struck an embankment.

According to a recent press release from SoutheastHEALTH, distribution and administration of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine continues in the Southeast Missouri Area. Currently, the area is in the Phase 1B - Tier 1 of Missouri s COVID-19 vaccination plan. This group includes individuals over the age of 65, or those with qualifying pre-existing conditions.
The State of Missouri s COVID-19 dashboard on Jan. 27, showed 10.2 percent of Cape Girardeau County residents, have received the first dose of the vaccine compared to the 4.7% vaccination rate statewide.
Vaccination clinics have been set up in several southeast Missouri counties. Those receiving the first dose ranges from 1 to 8.1% in Scott County, making it the second highest on the state COVID-19 dashboard.

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KAIT) - A 21-year-old man died early Tuesday morning when his SUV crashed and caught on fire.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash happened at 12:55 a.m. Jan. 19 on U.S. Highway 160, one mile east of Fairdealing.
Aaron N. Gawthrop of Poplar Bluff was eastbound when his 2009 Chevy Trailblazer ran off the roadway, struck two trees, and caught fire.
An ambulance transported Gawthrop to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where Dr. Guthikonda pronounced him dead at 2:05 a.m.

HURON, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center announces the addition of Larry Young, a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), to the HRMC surgical team, according to Dawn Allen, RN, vice president of patient services for HRMC.
As a certified registered nurse anesthetist for HRMC, Young performs anesthesia management of patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures in addition to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. CRNAs also administer epidural medication and nerve blocks for pain management.
“Larry’s experience in both large and rural medical settings make him a great addition to our surgical team,” said Allen. “His commitment to providing an excellent patient experience makes him a great fit for HRMC and our community.”
