Coal industry gets a single-window clearance system but the affected people are ignored

The Indian government has now announced a single-window clearance system for coal mining to cut down delays and ensure speedy operationalisation of mines.
The single-window system has been a long pending demand of the coal industry in India and is among the series of steps that the Indian government has taken over the last few years to increase coal production and cut down imports.
The mining-affected communities, however, rue the apathy towards them and the absence of any single-window system to address their concern from mining, including pending compensation and rehabilitation packages.
