Description
On March 25, 2021, Pope Francis released an Apostolic Letter entitled
Candor lucis aeternae marking the 700th anniversary of the death of the great Italian poet, Dante Alighieri, and highlights the relevance, timelessness and depth of faith in Dante’s masterpiece:
The Divine Comedy.

SPLENDOUR OF LIGHT ETERNAL, the Word of God became flesh from the Virgin Mary when, to the message of the angel, she responded: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord” (cf.
Lk 1:38). The liturgical feast that celebrates this ineffable mystery held a special place in the life and work of the supreme poet Dante Alighieri, a prophet of hope and a witness to the innate yearning for the infinite present in the human heart. On this Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, I readily add my voice to the great chorus of those who honour his memory in the year marking the seventh centenary of his death.

After ten years of conflict, Syria’s ongoing civil war has exacted a heavy toll: more than 400,000 victims, 12 million persons displaced, and 12.4 million people suffering from food insecurity. Amid such darkness, the light of authentic peace has yet to be found.
The way of peace Peace does not demand winners or losers, but rather brothers and sisters who, for all the misunderstandings and hurts of the past, are journeying from conflict to unity. Let us ask for this in praying for the whole Middle East. Here I think especially of neighbouring war-torn Syria. The way of peace is not possible without sharing and acceptance. These are the words that sum up the greatest hope for Syria, expressed by Pope Francis on 6 March during the Inter-religious Meeting in the Plain of Ur, in Iraq, in the land of Abraham.

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of the 75-year-old Cardinal Robert Sarah as prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments (CDWDS).
He relieved the African of his duties on February 20, but did not immediately name a new head of the worship office.
Sarah, a Guinean who has worked at the Vatican the past two decades, had made no secret these past several months that he wanted to step down from the CDWDS.
He had been the congregation s prefect since 2014. He had put himself in an attitude of obedient dissent
A doctrinal and liturgical conservative, the cardinal was often seen as a strident opponent of Pope Francis.
