With full support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece and the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, a branch of the National Foundation for Research and Studies 'Eleftherios K. Venizelos' was launched in Melbourne last Thursday at the Lyceum Hall, Alphington Grammar School.
The management of the National Research Foundation 'Eleftherios K. Venizelos' based at the paternal House-Museum of Eleftherios Venizelos in Halepa, Chania, unanimously decided to establish and operate a Melbourne-based branch, with the aim of studying, researching and promoting the work and national contribution of Eleftherios Venizelos to the wider region of Oceania and Australasia.
The Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia (FPAA) held commemorative events last Friday across Sydney, Melbourne, and South Australia to honour the victims of the Greek Genocide.
Last Friday the museum exhibition titled 'Asia Minor – Reflections of Everyday Life' was launched at the monastery of Axion Estin, in Northcote, Melbourne.
