Skateparks are not daycares or playgrounds, and can be dangerous for kids who do not know what they re doing. Parents should help them watch and observe the flow of a skatepark before letting their kids hop in.
Like communities across the state, Central Oregon’s towns boast their fair share of public skateparks. Bend, Sisters, Warm Springs, Redmond, Madras and Prineville are all home to concrete skateparks.
BEND, Ore. Last week, this feature took a look at Rockridge, Ponderosa and Prineville skateparks. This week, we guide you to one of Central Oregon’s oldest parks, Redmond, along with younger sibling Madras and the esteemed DIY Sisters skatepark.
While it may seem like it got a slow start, the Central Oregon public skatepark scene began nearly 25 years ago with the opening of Ponderosa Skatepark in 1997, followed by Redmond Skatepark in 2001. Today, skateparks are flourishing around the region.
