1860 George C Parker entered the world. Who was he? An American con man. Noted for repeatedly selling the Brooklyn Bridge, Grant’s Tomb and the Statue of Liberty. It is said that he sold the Brooklyn Bridge as often as twice a week, with the police having to stop the “new owners” from setting up toll booths on the bridge. He was convicted and sentenced to life at Sing Sing Prison where he died.
