NY to allow walk-in COVID shots at mass vaccination sites for 60-plus

Rockland/Westchester Journal News People ages 60 and older will no longer need an appointment at 16 mass vaccination sites in New York beginning Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. It comes after New York expanded vaccine eligibility to all people ages 16 and above on April 6, which boosted vaccinations overall but raised concerns the elderly would struggle to gain access to shots. There are no excuses now not to get the vaccine, Cuomo said during an event at the mass vaccination site at the National Guard Armory in Yonkers, Westchester County. About 8.4 million New Yorkers, or 42% of the population, have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines as of Tuesday, state data show.
