office seems unlikely. he needs 20 republican senators. tom, always good to see you. steve, thank you as well. and a if third quarter fund raising is any indication, the 2020 democratic primary is still an open race. buttigieg raised $19 million over the last three month, down from his high, but still an amount that will keep him in the race. sanders raised 25 million last quarter, an increase and a sign his grass roots fund raising effort is still as strong as effort. joining me, msnbc correspondent, garrett. talk to me b about the numbers. you got the top line numbers hoo n here for sanders and bu buttigieg. we know koor booker managed to raise $6 million in the last quarter. the sanders number is notable in part because we ve talked a lot about how warren has eaten into his polling advantage. he has been relegated to third place in most of the national and early state polling. that number suggests to me what we should have probably known already that sanders isn t going
