voters that s the bargain they ve chosen to strike. when you look at the top issues in that nbc wall street journal poll, the top issue is the economy, 38% of voters said that s their top issue and republicans in this poll are winning on that issue by the largest margin, i think it said in the history of the nbc wall street journal poll. so it s a tradeoff that voters are making in their mind where they re like, yeah, he is kind of a jerk but he s our jerk and maybe the economy is going well. i think that s the way a lot of voters are thinking about this. there s one other issue that stuck out to me in this poll that i think is why we have such a sense of this election being up in the air and that s the question of change. normally in these midterm elections when you ve got a new president in power, the party out of power is challenging, it s really we need change, we need something different and sure enough when i go into focus groups and ask people what are they thinking they say
2012 for barack obama, women, young people, latinos, african-americans, this enthusiasm gap shows that there s a deficit now. only 68% of those enthused people feel like they will go out and vote. democrats have to remind these key groups who has their back not who will stab them in the back. what i mean by that. latinos who blocked the immigration reform in the dream act. for women who is trying to control their bodies. certainly not letting women control their bodies. young people why can t we women care about the economy too. women care more than just that one issue. this is what that s what s going to gin up democrats. what will gin up republicans to go the polls. not just republicans. independents are strongly aligning with republican candidates according to those three polls i mentioned. largely because of the economy. this is the one issue. i ve said this for months. people are to discussion on
are going to be very specific investigations as to how this happened. republicans are already going into the irs investigation very, very aggressively and believe they are being stonewalled and the administration is covering up. this comes in the context of lois lerner s personal emails between 2009 and 2011 having disappeared in a computer crash. republicans are furious and alleging this is a deliberate attempt to block their investigation. now the investigation will include whether or not senator grassley was targeted. he s the ranking republican on the senate finance committee. that means if the republicans were to take over the majority next year he would be the chairman of it. the finance committee writes taxes. it has jurisdiction over the irs. grassley has been a ranking member and a chairman of the senate judiciary committee. look for this to cause a lot of stir at the department of justice prompted by this. a story that doesn t go away. carl cameron, thank you so much. yea
obamacare being a big achilles heel of the president. in hundreds of campaigns across this country the economy and job situation remained a top. when you have a contracted economy, no economic growth like you have now it s extremely difficult for any democrat to run on the obama record. obama doesn t care. he s not going to have his name on the ballot. or to blame president bush. i haven t noticed that happening as much recently. president bush is not on the ballot, obama is not on the ballot. if markets are correct and my polls are correct people are going to look forward and believe in fact the job situation sim proving, economy is continuing to expand. they don t. the weather was a huge factor. even bloomberg news bloomberg news said you could blame the weather for .5% drop not 2.9% drop. in the fox poll republicans and democrats fare even on the congressional ballot. when you put in the intensity factor likely voters republicans get a double digit lead, a lot
terrorists bad year is former vice president dick cheney and his lawyer, liz cheney, chair of a national security advocacy group, keep america safe. together they wrote in my time: a personal and political ma am war. thank you both for joining us. i want to start with the drone strike that took out the top propagandist, at least for al qaeda in the iranian peninsula, perhaps took out the bombmaker for the same group, al aserei and also took out samir kahn. what s your reaction to that? well, i think it was a very good strike. i think it was justified. i think it is very effective use of our drone technology. the thing i m waiting for is for the administration to go back and correct something they said two years ago when they criticized us for overreacting to the events of 9/11. they, in effect, said that we had walked away from our ideals, or taken policy contrary to our ideals when we had enhanced interrogation techniques. they clearly had moved in the direction of ta
