we re back to president biden giving an update on the student loan forgiveness program. he will be speaking at that podium right there. we ll go there when he begins. first, candidates in some of the most crucial races of these midterms are starting to debate in a few hours. in georgia, brian kemp squares off with his democrat opponent stacey abrams for the first time in the gubernatorial rematch and what they will be telling voters. what will happen there in the first big election cycle since donald trump allegedly tried to overturn the 2020 election in that state. we have a report on what election officials are doing to stress test new security features meant to protect the process. and the senate race is tight in ohio, republican jd vance and congressman tim ryan will debate for the second time and what voters tell us they re looking to hear from the two men. and where it all stands, new numbers out today shows a lot has changed in the last month. can we trust those number
voting that began on the 26th, saturday the 26th, and concluded on december the 2nd. and so we do have those numbers, but we can t begin the tabulation process obviously until the conclusion of voting on election day. so how soon will we seee of those first numbers start to come out from today? from today it will probably be about 7:45, maybe around 8:00. we have 147 precincts across cobb county. once the poll managers and the poll workers close down those locations, they will then bring all of their equipment back. but they also bring media, memory cards that have the tabulation on there. i want to ask you if there s any, you know, issues that you saw today. but first kind of walk me through what we re seeing behind here. because this is pretty fascinating for the viewer. fascinating s a very good word for it. but it s very busy. so this is essentially this area here is where we are scanning absentee ballots. and so i shared with you earlier when we had an opportunity to tal
desk who has some you? reporting. pamela. all right. so i m learning from officials i ve been speaking with on the phone today. gwinnett and cobb counties, they re in the atlanta area, all advanced in-person voting has been reported and both of those counties according to the officials i ve been speaking to. in gwinnett in particular, 24 out of 156 precincts have been reported. so what happens is the poll managers, they bring the card to the main area and then they re pushed through, the numbers are pushed through. so still a lot of votes are waiting on for those who came out and voted today on election day. when you look at cobb county, as i said, all in-person early votes, they have been pushed through. now what is left are the day of votes, so those who came to the polls today, and mail-in ballots as well. i m told it s a smaller number of mail-in ballots because of course the shortened window for the runoff voting. but that is the situation there in cobb county. and of course as
days go, it s been a great day. and it s one where none of our polling locations have delayed in opening. they all open on. time we didn t know mary cards that were left behind. no issues reported to us by poll managers. and i think that is kind of proven out if you will that i believe that just after 10 pm, and we have, what, just probably as i see come in, probably 20 more precincts to return. you have to be grateful for that here. john, do have a question? nick, one moment, as we re standing here, herschel walker has now pulled ahead. herschel walker, the republican, has a 1922 vote lead. and this is the magic election night. every result coming in from different places. back to where you are cobb county in, madam chair just said there are 22 precincts, if i did the math right, that are still out. and question is, may not be a fair question, but we know
