The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, and Lagos State Government, on Tuesday, disclosed plans to finally commence a three month trial on enforcement of the electronic-Call Up System from February 27, 2021, as part of measures to ensure the free flow of traffic in Apapa access port areas and environs.
The Managing Director, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman and Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Samwo-Olu, declared this when the former led a delegation of NPA management on a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

Following the intractable gridlock along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, port access roads and Apapa environs, the newly constituted Lagos State Traffic Management Enforcement Team, has announced its readiness to commence impoundment of any heavy-duty vehicles parked indiscriminately along the axis.
Meanwhile, members of various unions at the ports have called on the authority to probe the activities of Shippers Council of Nigeria and a terminal operator, APMT, over the Apapa gridlock.
He said that members of the team included
Toyin Fayinka (Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation); and
Olajide Oduyoye (General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
According to him, the team also includes
Sola Giwa (Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to the Governor on Central Business Districts); and
Ayodeji Laurent (SSA to the Governor on Political Security Intelligence).
“The Special Traffic Management and Enforcement Compliance Team is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a seamless traffic management system specifically designed to restore sanity in and around Apapa.
“They are to create a cohesive system that would aid the resurgence of business activities and ensure that residents live in a conducive environment devoid of traffic-induced stress, he said.
