the american people do. we are better than what we see in politics. the reason i m optimistic about america is because one of these days, they will actually be worthy of the people. i don t know when it will happen , but it will happen. you will demand it. you will demand the political system of the people it claims to represent. some folks seem surprised when i tell them that i watch more college sports than i do politic s, but it s the truth. i do, because that is where i see america, and all of our glory and grace. that s where i see what is good and right and fair and just. that s where i see us, and that s what gives me a reason to be hopeful. coming up, education is the closest thing to magic that we have in our lives.
everybody doesn t play by the same rules, meanwhile, the other half of the country also believes the system is rigged. it s just a different system, rigged by different people. the other half believes it s the media. it s higher education. it s politics that is stacked or rigged or biased against one orthodoxy or ideology. the symptoms are different, but the underlying pathology is the same, and the underlying pathology is a belief that unfairness is pervasive. we can handle mistakes. we should not except a lack of fairness from any institution. the institution which is supposed to be that neutral detached referee is the media, supposed to be but at least half the country believes the referee is really pulling for the other side. the other institution we frequently hear cited as a
