he s talking, bernie s weak, i m tough. it gets to the heart of the message. it s not a policy message. it s not an ideological message. it s china, mexico, i m the tough guy who is going to stand up for you. exactly. and it s so unusual for the candidate leading one party to attack somebody who we don t think will probably get the nomination in the other party. and again, it s not as if trump is making elaborate strategies when he talks. i think he just says whatever comes out of his mouth. one thing, i don t believe that was a sanders campaign event, i think it was another event that sanders was supposed to speak at. but it is true he was unable to speak because of the protesters. perry bacon, kwame jackson, susan page, thank you. just as hillary clinton was hitting her stride on the campaign trail, now she s facing two big threats bernie sanders, who surged into the lead in new hampshire, and the drip, drip, drip of her e-mail scandal. plus, jeb bush blames
devoted it, it came back. there was very little discussion of what to do with the 11 million undocumented people who are already here. jeb bush touched on it very briefly and there was almost no discussion of that. the discussion was largely centered on border security, more immigration enforcement and building a wall. but where does it the party go if they don t provide that cogent policy message to go after the hispanic voting bloc they so desperately need to gain the white house? 75% of latinos have a sharply negative view of trump and he was like him or not the star of this debate and even the earlier one referenced and wasn t there. so he is, you know, an important figure in the party right now. they can t address it with him there and the republican positions aren t really that different from his and when they keep focusing discussion on border security, what that in effect means is they don t want
to approve the measure that is put in front of them right now about the iranian nuclear deal and the prime minister was here lobbying yens that. we ll see how that goes forward. thank you for joining me. i appreciate it. jeb bush is on the campaign trail in florida talking economic policy and after his remarks in tallahassee, he agreed the controversy over donald trump and his comments about john mccain s war hero status. here s what he had to say. this is a legitimate hero that has served his country in lots of ways. mr. trump knows that. he should just apologize. that would probably move it on to the next thing. next week there will be another one of these. senior washington correspondent chris jansing has been following jeb bush. how does a jeb bush a person who wants to be a respectable gop candidate, get his policy message out there when he is
2.95 million jobs were added last year. the best year since 1999. americans are noticing. just three months ago, only 27% of the economy was excellent or good. now that number is up to 41% the highest level of the obama presidency. the white house released this video of the president previewing his speech. now that we have fought our way through the crisis, how do we make sure that everybody in this country, how do we make sure they are sharing in this growing economy? reporter: the president s policy message is aimed squarely at the nation s middle class. a proposal for $175 billion in tax cuts, free community college education, a tax credit for working families, and an expansion of child care tax credits up to $3,000. but of course there s the key question, how will it all be paid for? president obama s proposing $320 billion in new taxes on the wealthiest americans.
