i think there s some concern about just the lack of a policy accomplishments that she s made as vice president. i m surprise there s concerns. it has a lot to do that she s a black women. black women get everything done. we ve saved this country s democracy she s done what specifically? she was in the senate, attorney general, president. the inflation reduction act. i mean, she s what did mike pence do? the list goes on and on. not sure about the list. you can t point to one specific thing that wow, vice president harris really knocked out of the park. you talk about the border crisis, other things that she s being headed up. then you have all of the argument that are mysteriously showing up about doubts about her future. so we ll see. it s fascinating. martha: it sure is. there is a bit of a struggle to come up with some list items there. she s a person to watch in all of this as we move forward. great to see you.
i ve got my base, i m bigger than all of you. well, look, one of the things that struck me over a few days in las vegas was the degree to which republican activists and donors are very grateful for trump s policy accomplishments. would have liked to have seen him reelected. there is no doubt about that. after three electoral defeats, i saw more discussion about the need to move on from donald trump than i had seen over the last seven years. everybody points out correctly that his relationship with the base is very strong, and that we have seen the beginnings of this movie before. people are concerned about donald trump. they eventually fall in line, and if donald trump is the nominee in 2024, almost all of them will fall in line. but the difference between trump today and trump then is trump in 2016 was a change agent who had not taken everybody through the paces all the way through the end of the 2020 election and beyond. they had not seen him cause the
herschel walker. we will see what happens tonight. it s trending towards that i think a few things. i think trump does best whenever his back is sort of up against the wall when he has a healthy competition. think about what he did in 2016 in such a large field. and if you are going to be competitive in a general election. you are going to have to be able to compete in a primary. so, in some ways, i think it s better for him to have some competition. we will see if anyone jumps in. may not be until next summer. some key things to watch if he becomes a candidate tonight, he enters the campaign finance world. what does that mean? that means that every quarter, everybody, including people who may want to run against him are going to judge how much is he raising? and that s going to be a real indicator to some of the people on the fence about getting in or not about whether they should if trump ones on the trump presidency, on his record, on his policy accomplishments, no new wars, moms li
improbable that someone this unimpressive has become so powerful, the people in charge are forced to assure us almost with hysteria that she is brilliant and impressive in order to prepare the rest of us for the inevitable march to the white house they ve had to create a soviet level cult of personality around her. we are not exaggerating, the ground. the los angeles times was a news organization at one point, said harris was getting her own section in the newspaper which is news dedicated exclusively to kamala harris. we get business, international, and critical kamala harris. she s her own category of news. the paper called the new section, covering kamala harris. not surprised, the first dispatch from the new kamala harris barrow didn t focus on her policy accomplishments, that would ve been a pretty thin segment. instead, the paper covered the way she looks. kamala harris is all kinds of purse, first woman, first woman
