In a 4-3 decision, the Supreme Court of Virginia ruled that the evidence showing Officer Bradley Colas shot Jeffrey Tyree to protect the life of another officer was uncontradicted. As a result, the court found the trial judge should have dismissed the case before it was sent to the jury for deliberations, or set aside the jury's verdict.
