AMVETS raise money for Leesburg, Fruitland Park police K-9s

LEESBURG K-9 units are a vital part of a police force.
That s particularly true for the Leesburg Police Department, which currently has four full-service K-9s on roster and for the Fruitland Park Police Department, whose puppy, Droby, just joined the force.
K-9s are also expensive; it costs an estimated $20,000 to purchase, raise and train a K-9 for service.
To help offset the costs, the AMVETS Post 2006 in Leesburg held a chance drawing for guns that raised nearly $8,000. That money was split between the two police departments to bolster their K-9 endeavors.
