‘Junior Investigation Officer project yielded positive results’ Updated: Updated: It aimed at training head constables, ASIs in investigation techniques Share Article It aimed at training head constables, ASIs in investigation techniques Junior Investigation Officer(JIO) project, launched for the first time in the country in Prakasam to enhance professionalism of head constables(HCs) and assistant sub-inspectors(ASIs), has yielded positive results, noted Additional Director General of Police(Training) N. Sanjay. As part of the project, police personnel at the grassroots level are given training in techniques required during investigations, such as collecting the evidence at the crime scene or recording the witness’s statement under section Cr.PC. 161 or drawing a rough sketch of the crime scene. Prakasam Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal took the initiative to train a batch of 456 HCs and ASIs in October 2019.

The voters were also provided with hand sanitiser to clean their hands before they were allowed to the booths.

The polling started on a dull note at 7.00 a.m. and picked up pace later in the day in the districts of Nellore and Prakasam. Officials said 75.51% of the voters exercised their franchise in Prakasam district. Addanki witnessed the highest poll percentage of 83.04% and Giddalur the lowest at 67.92%. The poll percentage was 81.4% in Chikamukurthi, 75.57% in Ongole, 75.60% in Chirala, 71.22% in Markapur and 76.25% in Kanigiri.

High-pitched campaign comes to close in South Coastal AP

Updated: Share Article AAA The high-pitched campaigning for the civic polls to 11 urban local bodies in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh ended on Monday evening. As many as 119 candidates are in the fray in 48 wards going to polls in Atmakur, Venkatagiri, Naidupeta and Sullurpeta in SPSR Nellore district, where 52 candidates have been elected uncontested. In Prakasam district, 174 candidates are trying their electoral fortunes in 724 wards in the civic bodies of Ongole, Markapur, Chirala, Addanki, Chimakurthy, Giddalur and Kanigiri, where 24 aspirants have already been elected unopposed. While the ruling party highlighted the host of welfare schemes implemented by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during the campaign, the Telugu Desam Party promised to waive property and water tax arrears and also reduce the tax by 50%. The TDP also promised to reopen the popular Anna canteens.
